Who's Teaching Who?
I'm a former elementary teacher, about to embark on a new adventure...tot school. My daughter will be turning two soon and have decided to formalize our learning process. I have seen several blogs about tot school and have been inspired. I hope we can pull this off.

Sorry...
Sorry I haven't been on the blog lately. We haven't been doing much school for several reasons. But we have been doing some tray work and doing art activities. I've been putting those things on my facebook. Well, not the tray work...but the art. It's going to be hectic for the the next week and half, so I don't think school will get back to normal until the beginning part of Nov. Can you believe that October is almost done!?!? Time is flying.

Sick Little Lady
AB has been sick for the last couple of days. I took her to the doc, no strep, just a virus. Hoping to resume school again on Monday. I was considering doing school over the weekend. But I have changed my mind. She has been exhausting and I'm really needing a break. So Monday it is!

We are picking up, where we left off last week. Continuing with the letter G. Our classroom still isn't put back together, so school took place in our living room today.
Calendar time ~ using her new finger pointer to point to the letters. We sang our songs and did all the calendar stuff.
Finished putting the correct number of gumballs into the gumball machine. She did much better at this today, than she did last week.
I think she was supposed to recreate this pattern over and over but she wanted to glue the circles down. So I let her.
Supposed to cut this but she did writing practice instead. I'll have her cut it tomorrow.
There's those dots again.
I told her letters don't have those dots, so not to put them on there. So she didn't.
Block Puzzles ~ I found this activity on Pinterest. So when I went to the Dollar Tree, I found the blocks and immediately printed off the puzzle sheets.
She did several and really enjoyed them.
This is part of our curriculum, but from the K4 one. But since AB knows her letter sounds, we are doing this one and the one below.
She did fairly well. Still having a bit of trouble with clothes pins but she's getting better.
Writing her numbers
All the paint colors, she wanted to use.
By chance, I also found this giant fly swatter at the Dollar Tree as well. So she painted with it.
Then we went for a walk and played at the park. It was a beautiful day. Plus, I'm really trying to walk every day.

I want to note real quick, I did purchase the curriculum from her but a lot of the things are on her webpage.

We'll resume school again tomorrow. This past weekend, we had two different gatherings. Three rooms in our house, including the classroom, need to get put back together. I am working at getting that done. On top of that, we had to sterilize all of AB's toys. A friend of hers was over and later that night was diagnosed with strep throat. Needless to say, we are hoping not to catch it. I do have some exciting tot trays planned. Hopefully I can get them made up for AB to play with tomorrow.

Sick Days
AB has been sick the past couple of days. The night before with a fever and nonstop snot and sneezing. Yesterday we took the day off and I let her rest while I got some house work done. Today, I thought, lets do school first thing in the morning and see how it goes. By the end of our activities, you could tell she fuzzy. I'll tell you more about that in a bit.
Doing our weather. We started school so early, it was dark outside. So there is no weather for today. We just colored the blocks for the last two days. She told me it has been sunny. When she wakes up from nap, we'll do todays weather.
Practicing her G
Pre-writing skills
For some reason, she feels the need to make these marks at the ends of her letters, numbers, and lines. I asked her about it, but she didn't really know. Telling me, "oh I'm sorry, it was an accident." Ummm...doesn't seem like an accident. lol
Putting gumballs in the machine
She starts getting fuzzy here. Telling me the 8 is a 3 and then a 6. I KNOW she KNOWS its an 8. We only did the even ones today, except for 10.
Practicing her numbers. See the dots at the end of her numbers?

Library Day
Instead of school, we met up with our friends, Wyatt, Gage, and Koda. They have moved about 45 min away from us. Although, I didn't feel like a 45 min drive. They moved to a small community that is really nice. We went to their library time with them. What a great experience! I really liked it there. Here are some pictures from our time at the library.
After listening to a book about cars, they used paper plates to drive. They even went outside of the designated area and went into the library.
Listening to another story. I forgot to take a picture of the song they did with felt cars. That was really cute.
Playing music. This was SO loud!
Playing with a scarf
Pretending to wash the tires of a car
Painting with cars
Having snack
In the children area, doing puzzles and playing. AB was very interested in playing with the mama and baby purple hippos. Obsessed would be a better word.

Today we had school this afternoon because I had an appointment this morning. I'm so glad she is able to stay focused in the afternoons now. This gives us a lot more flexibility with our schedule.
This week, I want to start adding sight words, today/tomorrow/yesterday, and weather. We didn't get the today/tomorrow/yesterday done today, but hopefully tomorrow =)
Checking the weather
I was asking her if was raining, snowing, cloudy and so forth. She told me it was sunny.
I outlined the part in the graph, that she is supposed to color. I told her it was sunny, so we have to color that part of the graph.
We then did color by number. She only wants to color over the number...
So I outlined it the part to color and told her to color all of it.
Still just colored over the number =)
Looking at the new sight word and saying it after me. I need to look up and see if there is any order I should be teaching in. Probably should have thought of that before I introduced the word.
We read a book and she was looking for the word
Here I'm pointing out the word in the story. Every time we came to the word in, AB would read it.
This book has a lot of "in's" in the book. (I'm thinking my grammar is not correct in that sentence.)
