TGIF!!

Another day of productivity!  What a great week of school.  I think AB is back into the routine.  Getting back into the swing of things was hard after having the summer off.  Makes me think about, when homeschooling, doing a year around schedule.  That's a long time off but just thinking about it.

Next week, I will start introducing the pre-premier sight words.  Slowly!  We will also start doing the weather and today, tomorrow, and yesterday.

Calendar time ~ She was able to say all of her days of the week today!  She even did it twice!

Patterns ~ Dare I say, she might have the ABAB patterns mastered?!?!
Letter Hunt ~ She knew right what to do.  I could barely finish reading it before she already wanted to start highlighting the D's.
Letter practice ~ We haven't done much of B, so I had her practice this one today.  Lots more practice needed.
She started off drawing a map.  Thanks to Dora and Jake and the Neverland Pirates, she LOVES maps!
 But then she got crazy.
She's having the fish, swim in the water.
We did three different 12 piece jigsaw puzzles.  She did them almost entirely on her own.  It's funny to hear her, ask herself questions that I would ask her.  For example, she might say "is this a corner piece?" or "does that color match?".  Things like that.  I never tell her where a piece goes but more guide her into thinking about where the piece might go.

Thursday School Day

We did school after nap!  And she did amazing.  Usually, she won't do school in the afternoons.  But she was focused and we go a lot done!  Exciting!

Calendar time ~ I'm going to start doing a few more activities to work on pentagon, hexagon, and octagon.  They are very confusing for her (although, they are confusing for older children as well.  So I'm not fretting about it to much).
Practicing writing numbers.  We haven't done much of this.  I will reprint it and put it in our worksheet sleeve thing that we use for our big letters.  Danielle and I both have said how we wish we had bought a lot of those.  They were only a $1 at target at the start of the school year.

 AB is really concentrating!
Size sorting ~ she has the green and orange fish mixed up.  I'm showing her.  They are very close in size.

We are finishing up the shape hunt from the day before.  The last part is to count the number of each shape and then write the number down.  Since she can't write numbers yet, I wrote them and had her glue the number down.

Coloring her fish.  She used all the colors I think.
Reading about planets.  She's obsessed with going into outer space.

Yesterday, AB and I went with some friends to the science museum.  We have been to several science live shows there, but the one yesterday was by far the best.  There were very few children in attendance so they all were able to participate.  Usually, they only get to watch.  Such a wonderful experience!

Today we were very productive in school today!  I love days like that.  After our calendar time (we counted today!) we started our work.

I showed her how we would be measuring the fish, with goldfish.
Then she did the last two.
Then we counted the fish and answered the questions.  And when I say "WE", I really mean that she did.
I then wrote the answers down.  I write pretty well upside down. =)
She already understood the words "longest", "shortest", and "medium".

Shape Hunt.  I found this on Pinterest.
She found the shapes after I told her "color all the pentagons yellow" and so forth.
I loved how they used the word RHOMBUS instead of diamond!

Here are some apps we've been working with
 iWriteWords
 Park Math
Word Wagon

I had forgotten to mention the name of the curriculum we've been using.  It can be found at Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Weekend and Today

We started off with calendar time, as always.  Didn't think you needed to see pics of that again.  She has been doing very well at doing her days of the week.  Although she didn't want to count today.  Good thing that's something we practice often, randomly in the day.

Continuing to practice her letters.  AB actually loves doing this.  She want to practice all the time.  I got her a new app for the iPad, to practice letters as well.

She uses my wording when writing her letters.  It's pretty cute.  "Go straight down.  Pick up your pencil and go around."

I had been forgetting to print off her letter finds.  So we'll go back this week and do the letters D and E.
Forgot to do this during calendar time.

 Pentominoes
I didn't tell her how to glue down the pieces for her fish.  I let her do it all on her own.

She was wondering where some of the pieces went.  So she looked at the fish on her letter find.  Then she glued down the fins.
I helped her write her name

AB says "This is SO beautiful!"

From the weekend: Random things AB decided to do
 Doing patterns.  She did great!
