Bead Obsessed

AB didn't want to do anything unless it involved playing with her "beads".  Eventually, I got her to do some other things but only after she got to have some bead time.

Here she is involved with her "beads"
I wish I had taken pictures of her problem solving.  She dumped the bowl of stones into this bag of balls.  Yes, she asked for help, but I told her she had to figure it out. This was problem solving at its best.
First Solution: put her hand in the bag and dig around for one stone at a time.
Second Solution: take one ball out at a time
Third Solution: dump the whole bag of balls out and then find the stones.
We finally were able to move onto something else.  She is doing "heads and tails" cards.  The animals are from the book Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See.
AB did awesome at this activity.  I got these printable at 1plus1plus1equals1.
Singing If You're Happy and You Know It
Your face will surely show it... (Baby B was too busy to sing with us. He was much more interested in the magnetic letters on the chalkboard)
If you're happy and you know and really want to show it, shout hurray!
Reading our book about insects and bugs
This is an old activity but she still loves it.  In fact, we used to take these on trips with us because she loved them so much.
This wasn't part of the plans today but there isn't any reason for her not to stack the cups, identity the numbers on the bottom of each cup, and count them.

Look at this!  I was pretty excited about it.  This activity took place on the bed because we didn't want the baby to get the rocks.  I babysit a baby, but only for another month.  I was a short term solution, since I stay home.  We were glad to help them out.
 Back to beads!
I allow her to choose the color of paper and paint colors.  Unless we have a specific objective.  But for free paint, she chooses everything.
